Refund & Cancellation Policy

This describes how billing, trials, cancellation, and refunds work for an Ingenuity subscription. It's part of our Terms of Service.

1. The 14-day free trial

New accounts begin with a 14-day free trial. You do not need to provide a credit card or any payment details to start your trial. No charges, temporary authorizations, or holds are ever placed on your card.

The trial is full and unrestricted — use these 14 days to write, explore the app, test the editorial tools, and decide whether Ingenuity belongs in your writing routine before spending anything.

When your 14 days end, you will not be charged automatically because we do not have your card. Instead, your account transitions to read-and-export mode. Your writing and notes are preserved indefinitely, and you can export your sheets whenever you want. Writing, importing, and editorial assistance pause until you choose to start a paid subscription.

2. Billing

A paid subscription begins only when you explicitly choose to subscribe and enter your payment method at checkout. Subscriptions are $30 per month (exclusive of applicable taxes) and are billed automatically on a monthly recurring cycle until cancelled. Payments are handled by Dodo Payments, our merchant of record.

3. Cancelling

You can cancel your subscription at any time through the customer billing portal, which you can open directly from within the Ingenuity app. If you ever have difficulty accessing the portal, you can also email hello@dreamywriting.com from your account address and we will take care of it.

Cancelling stops future renewals. You retain full access to Ingenuity until the end of your current paid billing period. After that period runs out, your subscription is not renewed, and your account reverts to read-and-export mode.

During the 14-day trial, there is nothing to cancel. Because no payment information is collected at sign-up, your trial will simply expire on its own without any charge.

4. Refunds

Our standard policy is that subscription charges are strictly non-refundable, including renewals and partially used billing cycles. Because we offer a 14-day cardless trial, you have the opportunity to evaluate the complete product before any payment is made. Every charge reflects a deliberate decision to subscribe.

However, if you experience an accidental renewal, a billing discrepancy, or an exceptional circumstance, write to us at hello@dreamywriting.com. We review these situations and make decisions on a case-by-case basis.

When an exception is made and a refund is approved, it is processed through Dodo Payments back to your original payment method. Refunds typically appear on your bank or card statement within 5 to 10 business days.

Where the mandatory consumer protection laws of the jurisdiction where you reside provide a statutory right of withdrawal or refund, those laws apply.

5. Failed payments

If a renewal charge fails, Dodo Payments will automatically retry the charge over the following days. If payment cannot be completed after retries, your subscription is cancelled and your account transitions to read-and-export mode.

6. Price changes

If we change the subscription price, it won't affect a period you've already paid for. We'll give you reasonable notice before a new price applies to your next renewal.
